Sleep Like a Rock

Series Sleep Like a Rock. 2014

The photographic series Sleep Like a Rock was centered on an exploration of the aesthetic qualities of the granite rocks around Park Jarry in Montreal, Canada, while wanting to bring attention on the issue of homelessness and loneliness that often goes unnoticed in public spaces. This body of work was realized as part of my thesis research in the Master of Art Education at Concordia University: A Multidisciplinary Place-Specific Art Course Outline for the CEGEP Level. The thesis takes a close look at art practices investigating the physical, experiential and social dimension of place, and at how these art forms could be better integrated in the CEGEP Visual Arts program in Quebec. It consists of a research-creation project involving a heuristic study, which resulted in the design of a place-specific course outline integrating multidisciplinary exercises performed in the outdoors.
